University of Derby

Creative agency ‘The Real Adventure’ who had an initial concept, the University wanted a visual narrative set to music to showcase entire offering of their campuses at Derby and also Buxton.

The brief

Produce a commercial to enhance enrolment figures, tap into a multicultural geographic and appeal to the career and social desires of a demographic aged between 18 and 35.

The Approach

Our producer Jade Taylor projected managed this feature beginning the process with a visit to the University to understand the student experience and opportunities within each educational department. Jade then built a storyboard from the images during the visit and from Derby’s own archives to seek out the clever transition featured in the commercial to move the viewer seamlessly from one department to another.

Our Producer Mel Jones then proceeded to cast and administrate over 120 cast and crew with Derby’s marketing department and in accordance to Jade’s vision.

The results

Derby invested more funds into the marketing of the commercial to extended their audience reach via broadcasting spots on mainstream television.
